Join us at TipTop Coffee on Front Street in Thomas at 4:30p!!

The United Nations General Assembly designated 11 December
“International Mountain Day”. As of 2003, it has been observed every year to create awareness about the importance of mountains to life, to highlight the opportunities and constraints in mountain development, and to build alliances that will bring positive change to mountain peoples and environments around the world.
The theme this year is "Promoting mountain products for better livelihoods." We live in a region with a very rich artisan community and a bountiful agricultural economy that we all enjoy. The students at the Mountain Laurel Learning Center are learning about mountains (formation, types, famous ranges, etc.) and the goods and services found in our own community over the next week. Some of the work they develop will be on display at our first International Mountain Day celebration. We hope you will join us on December 11 at TipTop at 4:30pm to celebrate our community and our mountains. There will be an opportunity for you and other community members to write why love living in our mountain community too.
